Mechanical Seals and Social Responsibility
All the parts are in place to help our customers achieve their corporate responsibility goals.
At Flowserve, we have a proud history of involvement in industry and regulatory initiatives. As far back as 1991, we were the first to offer sealing solutions that met the stringent Southern California Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) emissions standards.
The Environmental Value of Reliability:
As part of its "Sealing System Matters" initiative, the Fluid Sealing Association recognized that "optimization of sealing systems represents a significant opportunity … to save energy, improve equipment reliability … [and] keep abreast of changing environmental and safety regulations." Flowserve mechanical seals are the first choice for environmentally conscious companies worldwide because of their legendary reliability and mean time between repair (MTBR).
Energy Efficiency at a Crossroads:
Pumping and compressor systems are responsible for anywhere from 25 to 50 percent of the energy usage in certain plant operations. As energy and resource costs continue to climb, every aspect of plant construction and operation is scrutinized for potential energy savings. Flowserve is at the forefront of providing mechanical seals that meet the most demanding production specs while maximizing every energy dollar. Working harder and smarter is what keeps Flowserve a leading supplier to the world’s most responsible, most productive companies.
Protecting Where We Work and Live:
The lessons of the past inform decisions today that affect safety tomorrow. From the people you employ to the communities you support, responsible companies don’t have to look far to find a good reason to invest in the highest-quality Flowserve mechanical seals. With our reputation for industry-leading solutions, face technology advancements and the highest degree of technical field support, you can rest assured you’ve honored your commitment to safety and responsible stewardship.
Taking Responsibility. Affecting Change.
At Flowserve, we have a proud history of involvement in industry and regulatory initiatives. As far back as 1991, we were the first to offer sealing solutions that met the stringent Southern California Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) emissions standards. Flowserve continued to lead the industry as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) adopted national standards throughout the United States. We supported implementation of German environmental regulations with sealing solutions that met the strict requirements of the 2002 TA LUFT and are currently supporting the stringent rules associated with the EU European Integrated Pollution Prevention of Control (IPPC) directive. Flowserve is participating in the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Superior Energy Program, which seeks to improve the energy intensity of U.S. manufacturing by 25 percent by 2017 through voluntary initiatives. Flowserve has also participated in the Fluid Sealing Association’s "Sealing Systems Matter" initiative that helped to "promote educated decision-making based on total life-cycle costs … associated with energy consumption, water usage ... and environmental monitoring."
From emissions and efficiency to safety and sustainability, Flowserve understands the importance of corporate social responsibility and our role in helping our customers succeed in reaching their goals.
