The Flowserve Limitorque QX is the entry into the quarter-turn non-intrusive, double-sealed, smart electronic actuator marketplace. Continuing the legacy of the industry’s state-of-the-art multi-turn MX actuator from Limitorque, the QX design builds on more than 15 years of proven MX technology to provide all the user-preferred features in a quarter-turn smart actuator package. It is the only non-intrusive, double-sealed quarter-turn actuator to display the Limitorque brand.

What sets the QX quarter-turn actuator apart is the combination of control and reliability facilitated by advanced Limitorque technology, plus superior ergonomics and human interfaces for speed, comfort, and ease of use. An innovative handwheel parallel to the LCD screen permits the actuator to be installed in areas with limited space and eases manual setup and operation routines.  A graphical dot matrix display with local control switches delivers instant, up-to-the-second actuator status and valve position in eleven languages. This interface also provides local actuator control as well as simple calibration and diagnostic information including motor voltage, identification, hardware and software data, and torque profile log reports.

The QX electronic actuator is the platform for current and future network developments including Modbus DDC, Foundation Fieldbus H1, Profibus DP_V1, Profibus_ PA, and DeviceNet. Distinguishing itself from the competition, the QX actuator features an absolute postion encoder which doesn't require battery back-up and is designed with B.I.S.T. (Built In Self Test) capability for self-diagnosis. The QX also employs advanced brushless DC motors to eliminate sparks, reduce mechanical and electrical noise, and dissipate heat better than motors with brushes. This design lasts longer than conventional motors and allows for more accurate positioning while permitting a global range of voltages (single-phase and three-phase ACV and 24 – 48 DCV) to be connected without modification to the actuator. Additional features of the QX include LimiGard circuitry, which safeguards the actuator from spurious electro-magnetic interference, 100% solid state controls, and Limitorque’s namesake feature – torque sensing.

The industry-leading feature set of the QX has been extended to a multi-turn version, the QXM. Available for up to 20 turns, the QXM features increased speed ranges from 6 to 24 RPM. When combined with faster speeds, the torque ranges are consistent with the speed required for limited linear travel. All of the MX and QX features are included in the actuator and in fact, an optional A1 base can be attached to the QXM for multi-turn valves such as choke valves and small control valves which produce thrust.
